Fat Hen Grocery Opens Uptown
on St. Charles Avenue

The Fat Hen Grocery and Deli opened in July at 7457 St. Charles Avenue, at the corner of Cherokee Street. Old-time New Orleanians will remember this location as the longtime home of another beloved animal-named grocery, the Piggly-Wiggly, thus making the Fat Hen a coming home of sorts.

The Fat Hen Grocery and Deli has counter and table seating for breakfast, lunch and dinner, with breakfast served throughout the day. The Grocery is open Fridays and Saturdays from 7am to 10pm, and Sundays, Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 7am to 9pm. The Grocery is closed on Tuesdays.

The grocery sells “ShaneMade” items, specialty food products homemade at the Fat Hen by Chef/Owner Shane Pritchett. These items include homemade jams and barbecue sauces, baked goods and sweets, home-smoked meats and cheeses, and dressings and pickles. The deli also has a full-service coffee and espresso bar, and fresh-squeezed juices and homemade lemonades. A variety of iced teas and soft drinks also are available.

The breakfast menu is featured from opening until closing and the heartier lunch / dinner menu will be served from 11am until closing.
